"Show window title in app menu: Always" does not seem to work

Open stdedos opened this issue 2 years ago • 13 comments

I have the same problem with https://github.com/hardpixel/unite-shell/issues/269, but basically for every application:

  • Google Chrome
  • PyCharm
  • Terminal
  • VSCodium
  • ...

It seems that, if I do Alt+F2 r Enter (restart gnome shell) it works temporarily - but when I click any other window, it's gone again forever.

Hi @stdedos, thanks for the report. Please provide more info about distro and gnome-shell versions and the output of journalctl -g unite.

Oh right - there you go:

$ gnome-shell --version
GNOME Shell 3.36.9
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:	Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS
Release:	20.04

I tried to replicate this in a VM and I can't. Please try the master branch.

I have no idea how to do that 😕

I just use the https://extensions.gnome.org/ site to download an install them

I will push a new version today so you can try it when it updates.

Thanks! Seems that the new version works as expected - and restarting the Gnome Shell is not a temporary solution.

Now, if only https://github.com/hardpixel/unite-shell/issues/74 could be solved ... ❤️‍🔥

I think the might still be a problem when the monitor configuration changes (i.e. adding/removing monitors)

unite_new-log.log Also, the log from today is quite extensive.

Although, truth be told, I "cannot afford" to logout and log back in - hoping Alt+F2 r is enough 🙏

The new version pushed this week totally trashes this feature for me (I have restarted, and I have Alt+F2 r restarted Gnome after changing the settings). journalctl -g unite -b 0 is empty (except lines like)

This option "Hide Window Titlebars": Always, still does not work for me on Ubuntu 22

This option "Hide Window Titlebars": Always, still does not work for me on Ubuntu 22

"Show window title in app menu: Always" is literally not "Hide Window Titlebars": Always

Please avoid spamming maybe-irrelevant issues with your issues 🙏

The same issue about "Show window title in app menu: Always" on Arch Linux GNOME Shell 43.3
