Upgrading node red causes the config node to stop working.

That really doesn't tell me anything useful.

You are going to need to supply a LOT more information before I'll even bother to look at this.

  • what version of Node-RED did you upgrade from
  • what version of nodejs is it running on
  • what version of the node do you have installed
  • what errors are you shown, either in the debug sidebar or in the Node-RED logs

Node-RED will log if it has failed to load a node at startup

That image doesn't offer anything useful, it just implies you haven't configured the node
