Can't define parameters

I did a new install with Ubuntu 22.04 and followed the guide (with the addition of installing git) and my card show up in /dev/ but when trying to set parameters with echo 1 >/sys/class/cxadc/cxadc0/device/parameters/vmux or sudo echo 1 >/sys/class/cxadc/cxadc0/device/parameters/vmux for example I get a permission denied message. Is this simply some kind of Linux issue? I can however edit it with nano and the values show up correctly in cxvalues. But since I plan to use a system with clockgen modded set of cards, I would like to have this option.

Ubuntu 20.04 behaved in the same way The last test was done with a brand new white card. Card is completely unmodified and confirmed working under Windows in the same system.
