What about using the dotsies font (see dotsies.org), maybe in a horizontal format like 1d barcodes, with an added character representing a space? It's a pixel font & wouldn't be immediately readable, but you could learn to read it. There is already a human readable Qr code anyway, actually. hrqr.org
