Which side is supported in fold-back inversion events?

Hi!

I'm trying to understand the difference between ++ and -- strandedness in BND's with both break-ends on the same chromosome. From here I understand that these are one-sided inversions. Unlike inversions with support on both sides (INV), which seem to always have the ++ orientation, these one-sided inversions can be either ++ or --. I suspect that this should indicate which breakend has support. Wonder if you guys can clarify?
