Use without Google Maps API key

Open nrotella-ainstein opened this issue 5 years ago • 2 comments

Hi, thank you for developing this plugin. It looks like a nice tool for visualizing GPS data, however since it was first developed it seems that the Google Maps API is no longer free even for low request traffic (requires a billing account and follows a pay-as-you-go model).

Is there any way to use this plugin without paying for the API? It doesn't seem to be possible but I wanted to ask.

Thanks.

Yes, I found this problem yesterday. So.... I am planning to draw maps using another service. (Open Street Map or others...)

Thank you for the quick reply. It would be great if you have the time to modify the package to use a free maps service, and in the meantime update the readme to reflect this issue.

Do you know of any other packages which have been developed lately which use open maps?

Thank you again for developing this tool.
