Unable to exit using `The hardware way`

Open allymparker opened this issue 4 years ago • 13 comments

I think there may be a bug in The hardware way as I can't get out of Vim, even after pulling out the plug.

Here's my environment:

Dell Latitude laptop Ubuntu 18

I think it may be something to do with the battery of the laptop not discharging. Can anyone else reproduce?

Can confirm this on Dell XPS, perhaps related to Dell hardware?

I believe that the problem is DNS.

Remove battery from laptop as seen in fig 1. for Dell/Lenovo laptops.

Some disassembling required for macbooks.

Try holding down the power button, I've found it sometimes works.

Should have been solved in this PR.

Are you sure? A pin didn't reboot it for me.

Edit: Ah, never mind. I applied force to a nail with a hammer and it finally shut down. Did I miss something though? You said reboot but mine isn't coming back on. 🤔 Oh well, at least I'm out of vim.

Hello i'm a dell customer support engineer, we've confirmed the issue and it appeared that your computer is infected with a ransomware, so please send me 3000 dollars to remove the virus and get things working properly.
