altgr (aka right option on macs) interpreted as alt (left option)

My keyboard layout (https://ergol.org/) has many symbols accessed using altgr (for instance # is altgr[B]). Although it generally works in Firefox, I cannot use these in codimd, as altgr seems to be interpreted as alt. Is there a way to distinguish the two?
