Partnership Engagement: Los Feliz Neighborhood Council

Overview

We would like to establish a partnership with the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council and have them embed Food Oasis onto their website. This is a goal identified for Impact Sprints 2022.

Los Feliz NC has expressed interest in the Food Oasis tool in the past. We need to reengage with them and find out more of their current priorities regarding food insecurity and their constituents.

I had a meeting with Mellina Stoney- Partnership Manager at Code for America, and we discussed a new approach to partnerships for FOLA. Moving this to Icebox, as the neighborhood council engagement may become a medium to long term goal. Partnerships with our more current partners, such as Food Cycle LA, are being pushed to priority.

Comment Update: As per a meeting with Mellina and Bonnie on 08/31/22, moving this to In Progress. More details about this approach was shared, and I have a greater understanding of why we are pursuing this partnership.

One of the main goals for Food Oasis at this time is to engage with the community, and in Los Angeles the way to do that is through the Neighborhood Councils. Los Feliz is one of the largest councils and is well organized. Bonnie has been in communication with the president, John Deutsch, and he expressed interest in the tool in the past. Bonnie will provide more context to her past communication and her ideas about how we should proceed, and I will develop the plan for reaching out.
