[ Updating Content Guidelines ] Research and brainstorm character/line count for Content

Open SamHyler opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Overview

Suggestion from Design for future collaborations is the establish counts for the length of Content -by line or character. We should explore this and find best practice, and where it fits in the content guidelines and the design system and anywhere else.

This issue should be developed as the work progresses. For now, it can be started with some background research and brainstorming. Primarily, what is best practice, brainstorming what we want for our site in terms of plain language and length of texts that appear on the site.

The issue will likely run into dependencies with our work in Design and the Content Guidelines.

Action Items

Meeting Notes:

  • Background: something design asked content to look into
  • CTA, headers, body text, questions in the letter generator, FAQs, photo captions, alt text, (could research types of content requiring character or line counts)
  • Character / line count can be optional depending on what our research says, some types may not need it as much as others
  • Differences between types of websites
  • How does it relate to tone and voice?
