DoT Ongoing Work

  • Code the Curb Initiative
    • Projects focused on creating digital curb inventory for feeding various initiatives related to curb space usage
    • Pilot projects in process involving ingestion and tagging of image data (detection of edge lines a major focus)
    • Lat/Long tagged data related to curbside features as a byproduct of feature installation procedures
    • Old data that requires conversion for current use

Collaborative project proposals

  • Housing overcrowding and income statistics for areas and their correlation with 311 requests
  • Scoring project proposals based on network-based features
    • Data from CicLAvia, Strava, Bike activity
    • Focus on infrastructure-based projects (bike/pedestrian/transit)
  • Calculating resistance to biking/pedestrian behaviors using network features
    • Identifying choke-points that produce 'friction' for commuters and identifying the best interventions to increase flow
    • Intersection features available (crosswalk, lanes of traffic, etc)
  • Mapping social distancing ability with respect to sidewalk/corridor size
