Hello/Hi, I've transferred your issue to the new client repo.

I like the idea and have already looked into it. Implementing the base feature would be simple enough. It'd be nice to extend it, in the future, into allowing channels to have their own emoji sets (not unlike a popular chat service you might have used). I'll keep this issue open and update it when/if the feature gets added
