Cannot ignore existing but inexact georeferencing points?

Hi, I am trying to improve georeferencing of some large TIF but the plugin prints an info message Georeferencing loaded : Found existing georeferencing in raster but then the image does not load at all. Please add an option to ignore the points.

Ideally, keep them but let me add my own.

I had to run gimp to open the input TIF file and write out another without the georef data. :-( Thank you, qgis-3.28.1
