Recovered password does not work

However, the password does not actually work when I attempt to change password in bitcoin-qt or import wallet in bitcoin.com client. The wallet file is from 2014 or something. What should I do?

@jachymb Did you figure this out?

Sort of. The wallet file was perhaps somehow corrupted (I am not sure, though), so it could not be unlocked, although the password recovery still worked. I managed to obtain a different backup of the same wallet, where the same password worked for unlocking.
