@artmg: I wouldn't say "correcting"... more calling your attention to a handy tool which is available on all Debian and *buntu systems. ;)

Which distro are you on? Are you possibly on Debian stable?

Right, @sarim, good catch. In that case I suspect that `-backports` has not been enabled in `/etc/apt/sources.list`.

@mrX215: Can you show us your `sources.list` file by running: cat /etc/apt/sources.list

It's not related to GNOME, but `xkeyboard-config` (`xkb-data`). The problem was introduced in version 2.19 of `xkeyboard-config`, and [will be worked around](https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100701) in version 2.21.

That's odd. Maybe it's missing in your mirror of the download server. You may want to open _Software & Properties_, switch to some other download server, run "sudo apt update"...
