It would be nice if one could specify a proxy for package downloads

Being able to do so would speed up experimenting using apt-cacher-ng or similar software.

How do you picture that working? You should be able to configure proxies just like how you would on a plain Debian system.

Sorry for not being more specific in my first message. I pictured setting a proxy in addition to the mirror for the debootstrap. Setting a proxy is easy after the debootstrap phase, indeed,
