Change the word "citizen" to be more inclusive... to "Person" possibly

@guardianproject @gethavenapp Please don't use the word citizen like this in your copy: "…Haven prevents the worst kind of people from silencing citizens without getting caught in the act." guardianproject.github.io/haven/

Open to discussing our use, but I think we meant it in the most inclusive manner, and not a limited legal interpretation

I understand what you mean and where you're coming from, but I don't think there is any manner of using the word 'citizen' that is truly inclusive. Regardless of specific legal incarnations, the word itself presupposes citizenship of something: a membership. And thus exclusive.

In addition, the word is increasingly/currently being intensely weaponized and racialized, particularly in the USA, where 'citizen' will CERTAINLY be read by many Latinx USians (among others) as not including them.

I don't know as much about other political situations, but I imagine, for example, that a refugee from Syria residing in Europe may feel similarly excluded when reading the word.

I think the word you're really looking for is "person" or "people" -- humans, not necessarily citizens of any particular state, polis, or even community. You could use those words instead :)

If it makes sense and pleases the, err “people” then:

I like “Made by and for the good people on Earth”, for when this project goes full Bowie.
