What about an iPhone app?

We have a statement here: https://guardianproject.github.io/haven/#why-no-iphone-support

but maybe we can do more?

What if we built a Haven client app on iOS, that synced over Tor, to Haven running on an Android device? It could use Tor.framework, and synchronized data over the proposed rss/json feed. You could make the integration simple through scanning a QR code.

"Why no iPhone Support?

While we hope to support a version of Haven that runs directly on iOS devices in the future, iPhone users can still benefit from Haven today. You can purchase an inexpensive Android phone for less than $100, and use that as your “Haven Device”, that you leave behind, while you keep your iPhone with you. If you run Signal on your iPhone, you can configure Haven on Android to send encrypted notifications, with photos and audio, directly to you. If you enable the “Tor Onion Service” feature in Haven (requires installing “Orbot” app as well), you can remotely access all Haven log data from your iPhone, using the Onion Browser app.

So, no, iPhone users we didn’t forget about you, and hope you’ll pick up an Android burner today for a few bucks!"

is there a bit more that might be able to be stated regarding this topic? i see the official statement, but it is a little short on solid reasons why... is it just a matter of budget, developer specialization, etc? is there anything about iPhone and iOS from a technical standpoint that is blocking it? i've heard folk say things like "doing it with the screen off on a non-jailbroken iPhone is a total non-starter"

if it's a matter of budget, i know that funds could be raised, provided there's a target amount.
