upload/upload only share links.

Open Duckfromearth opened this issue 7 months ago • 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Share links are download only.

Describe the solution you'd like The option for upload/upload only share links.

Describe alternatives you've considered Filerun has this, but is not FOSS, bad performance, clunky configuration, limited official docker support. Copyparty has this, but the UI is very confusing.

Current workaround in FIlebrowser is to create a new user, and limit the home directory to the folder you want to share. This works, but it's a lot of steps for a simple folder share.

I plan to add this soon. Can you give more details about how you expect this to work?

By upload/upload do you mean something that doesn't show files to download, just a portal to upload files? How exactly would this be different than a regular share? Just looking for a clear breakdown since I am not entirely sure what upload/upload only share links mean.

In general I will add optional "upload" capability to shares, does that solve the problem?

I have two possible use-cases which may be solved by shares with optional checkboxes:

  • "upload-only" use - e.g. sharing the link to multiple people, where everyone is sending file and noone is able to read other peoples' files. One tricky thing is to either show folder but without view access to files (this may be better IMO), or to deny upload if file already exist.
  • "upload-and-download" use - e.g. sharing folder for collegues for everyone to upload their holiday photos from a common trip, where everyone can upload and everyone can view/download all the files

maybe having two checkboxes within share window can solve this? One for "upload access" and second for "download access"? Not allowing to view files but to leave the folder view as is may be easier?

Implemented in 0.8.8,

Note: Currently allows overwriting existing files by anonymous users.

Unfortunately, the German translation for the upload share link does not make sense, because the German word “Aktie” means “stock” in English. The correct translation would be "Freigabe"

That would be the correct translation in the de.json file:

"shareNotFound": "Ungültige oder abgelaufene Freigabe." "shareThemeColorDescription": "CSS-Farbwert, der auf das Thema der Freigabe angewendet wird (z. B. rot, #0ea5e9, rgb(14,165,233)).", "descriptionDefault": "Sie haben eine Freigabe zur Ansicht oder zum Download erhalten.", "shareType": "Typ der Freigabe",

Right now I'm updating some translations, so taking advantage of it I can update those 👍

ok, I added them on my PR

I tested this feature and for upload only links it works great! Thanks!

How about both upload-and-download links? Right now I can share two links, but maybe it would be possible to have a normal share with upload button.

Yeah definitely!

0.8.9 adds two things related to uploads:

  1. uploading is possible on normal shares with "create and upload" enabled
  2. conflict replacement is disabled by default, but can be enabled in share settings.
