The time it takes for an attachment to upload and display will vary with size and bandwidth, yes. This now appears resolved; closing issue.
Not reproducible any longer with the above example message. Closing issue; reopen if it occurs again.
This may have been related to using multi-containers in Firefox, although the cached contents were shown in the same container.

This implies that there could be a "Resume index synchronization" button somewhere in the UI.
