Linux Shortcut Conflict: New Tab in Current Container
I really like this extensions especially with the direct container control shortcuts but unfortunately the Ctrl+Alt+T shortcut is a conflict for a lot of Linux users. This shortcut is often used in Linux as a way to quickly open the system's Terminal (command line) application so it has global priority for the systems that use it. Unfortunately, this means the new tab in current container feature of this extension is always ignored by versions of Linux that implement this global shortcut.
I'd like to request there be a way for user changeable shortcut or alternatively to maybe change it to Ctrl+Alt+C for Linux users to create new current Container tabs.
Welcome to the Firefox Easy Container Shortcuts community! Thanks so much for creating your first issue, we'll get back to you ASAP!
You should be able to re-map shortcuts after installing the extension using this feature: https://bug1303384.bmoattachments.org/attachment.cgi?id=9051647
I'll leave this open because we could change the defaults specifically for Linux users. It should be as simple as changing the manifest file to add the new Linux-specific defaults.
I didn't know I could do this so thank you very much for that info as well! :+1: I have decided to use Alt+C as the shortcut for this because it is easier to do and doesn't conflict with Firefox's "main menu" sequence shortcuts :)
Thanks again for making this extension!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for the video. I couldn't either find a way to change the default keyboard shortcuts. Maybe you could have a link to it in the description of the extension or explain there how to change them.
Thanks for the extension, it's really a lifesaver!
Glad to read that! Will add the link to the description 👍🏻
