Ideally we would balance doing real work (building apps and improving IPFS tools) with welcoming and educating people new to IPFS.

I just ran into this as well. I was glad the withCredentials option was available, but agree it should default to false.
As discussed at Raynos/xhr#33 (click "Show outdated diff"), some believe the withCredentials default in the spec was a mistake, as was the Access-Control-Allow-Origin wildcard. I haven't found many resources to...
Any name with "class" in it is confusing to me given that all of the existing ones deal with DOM classes. How about following the lead of Closure and Node...
Also worth thinking about is what happens to a utility like this as we migrate to ES6 classes?
