Did you get a dialog asking for permission to write the image?

It looks like the dark variant is not being picked up. Where did you configure your dark theme? In GNOME Control center or gnome-tweaks?

I can reproduce and I think it explains why sometimes when using QGnomePlatform it gets the light theme even though the dark variant is set.
