Huge memory usage growth with SSS and refraction enabled

When multiple scattering and transmission are both enabled and Max Ray Samples > 1, Mantra consumes too much memory.

Enormous memory consumption shows with combination of:

  • multiple SSS
  • transmission direct lighting
  • any area light including Environment light in direct mode
  • Ray-Variance anti-aliasing on (optional)
