Game gives a dll 126 error when using latest version

When trying to run the latest version of the game, the .exe doesn't run and gives an error saying that it could not load dll 126. Suspecting a requirement was not installed/installed incorrectly I tried downloading all of them including reinstalling - did not work. Tried a previous version of the game and worked without problems. Clicking update button from there, game would close and running the .exe would give the same dll 126 error. I can't figure out which dll it is referring to but the latest version won't work.
