App broke under macOS 15.4 UPDATE
App not recognized when trying to share with Android, R&R App same result, happened after the update
Any response?
Give me a reason why I owe you one?
I use Blip now. https://blip.net/
ah, i made a donation? maybe ?
You didn't make a donation because I don't take any.
thought, i had, sorry but I dont understand the attitude
Well, look at it from my side: someone creates an issue that basically boils down "your shit doesn't work for me any more". No details, no attempts to troubleshoot it, no nothing. So of course I ignore it because it's not actionable as far as I'm concerned. Everything works for me. And then, 10 days later, comes this very unprofessional "any response?". What kind of response did you expect here exactly? Did you want tech support from me? I don't do that here. I expect people who use my personal projects to be comfortable with technology and to understand the basics of how things work or at least be curious enough.
Are you running 15.4? what do you expect, being ignored? could have replied, I admire and liked the software, but worked with 15.3, updated now doesnt work, safe mode, same result..
Shame will go with Bluetooth, slow as moleases
NearDrop also does not work for me after updating to MacOS 15.4. My computer shows up but the transfer is immediately "Failed". Wifi and Bluetooth are on. Not sure how we could effectively troubleshoot this from out side.
And, as someone that works in open source (not this account) this is a really shitty attitude to a bug report...
Yup. Triggers with criticism, are not a good trait to have Glad I'm not the only one, encountering issues with this app

Saying "it doesn't work for me" isn't a bug report. You're supposed to have done your own troubleshooting to make sure the problem is with the app. Maybe even submit a PR with a fix. Instead you act like I owe you a working app somehow by virtue of existing.

Run the app from Xcode and look at the logs for example?
Not familiar with X-Code or how to use it, Bradon-Page, is this something you're able to assist with ? Downloaded X-Code but lost trying to open Neaedrop with it, used ChatGPT but lost
if i could run XCODE i'd make my own app LMAO
What do you even do on Github if you aren't a developer or at least a tech-curious person?
none of your business
See, I can be a D$C$ too, but choose not to be LMAO, unlike some overly sensitive Developers who can't take criticism
I can and do take criticism but only when it's constructive. "Your shit doesn't work on my system, fix it" is anything but.
You obviously don't and can't see it.
You need some time on the Couch to figure it out.
I was reporting a bug that's impacting the app due to an OS update, and I was not the only one.
You pick and choose when to TRIGGER, and being the first one (there are two), I was the target.
You have 2 examples, maybe you should look further into the issue, take ownership, and investigate..
Since we're making suggestions
I was polite... Not used to baby talk in a professional setting, as bug reporting...
"Ah, Didd'ums... I am sorry to report this, but this app is not functioning as it should. Please forgive me Your Highness "
Guess this would be taken as "Rude" too
Since you're very sensitive, how would you like to have bugs reported?
It doesn't matter how exactly you phrase "your app doesn't work for me" if this is going to be the entirety of your issue. What matters is that your bug report is not actionable without any details, or any thoughts from you, or someone else with a similar problem, about why it might not be working. It does work just fine for me and for thousands of other people, after all.
again I am not a programer, if it was impacted by a single action I would include this, I am very detailed
Stated this happened with the 15.4 update, meaning the Operating System impacted it, could be security measures that were changed
Im not used to holding someone's hand in the tech world, the report was general because it is, nothing else to explain
Been using Computers before your parents were born LOL
Started in "Safe Boot" Same result, meaning issue not related to any 3rd party software, again OS is susptect
The issue is still occurring with 15.4.1 update brandon-page can you please confirm this, thanks
Hey i am on 15.4.1 and it works for me, Though the Mac -> Windows doesnt seem to work but Mac -> (Samsung) Android seems to work flawlessly.
brandon-page You using OCLP with your Mac and/or ROM for Android ie LineageOS Workaround for me, is using my 2012 MacMini NAS Sever running 15.4 using NearDrop with that and transfer to MBP A1286 Via NAS LOL

have you tried completely uninstalling the app and reinstalling it? did you check whether there are any permissions you did not provide in the system settings? are there any notifications on the mac that maybe indicate something and you're missing them right now? try looking at these things
No changes made after update, ran perfectly fine under 15.3 stopped working with the next update, still nonfunctional with current 15.5

For me app stopped working after 15.5 update with the same symptoms: phone couldn't find my mac. I faced the problem some times and it usually solves with turning on-off Bluetooth on mac and some retries on phone. But not this time, even removing (with AppCleaner) and reinstalling didn't solve the problem. And unexpectedly everything goes normal after reboot.
So the fact is that something in mac can block NearDrop app. And there is no way to diagnose it for end user. Maybe app can gather some diagnostic info to post with issues like this one?
so there’s nothing else to discuss… No program changes, and NearDrop broke with macOS update, full stop. This is INTEL, maybe the issue is processor-specific
I have a workaround using my MacMini NAS on the same network on 15.4, just have to transfer around
