[Feature Request] Open Folder directly on Gameyfin
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I use gameyfin as a storefront for the household, mostly for GOG games that don't get updated regularly. When i have a game i want to play i open the SMB share and execute the setup exe directly on the NAS / share to install. Right now my workflow is select the game go to the windows explorer and open share and run the exe on the SMB share.
Describe the solution you'd like It would be great to have right next to the metadata / download button a new button to open the root folder.
Describe alternatives you've considered The "perfect" solution would be having gameyfin detect the install exe and install the game directly from the NAS. But this solution could be more work and troublesome.
Duplicate of #84.
I think that for this to work, Gameyfin would need to know the folder on the network share (when using the Docker image this is most likely different from the folder Gameyfin sees inside the container). Linking the game would be trivial then.
Your "perfect solution" cant be implemented since installing games from the browser is just not possible and an official desktop client is currently not planned.
I see what you mean about the perfect solution. The path is indeed different on the docker side. Just for discussion sake most browsers let you open the folder after the download is finished. Would some like that be possible? If not I think since this is duplicated that the FR can b3 closed. ty
Opening the file/folder after the download is a browser feature so Gameyfin cant control this interaction. Opening the folder/file or even executing it (if its executable) is already possible with Gameyfin. I will not close this issue, but pe prepared to wait until the feature is available in Gameyfin (PRs are always welcome 😉)
I would love to help... but i dont have the necessary skills im more a networking / infra guy. No rush im glad i could suggest something.
I second this. I store a bunch of stuff in the game folders; the repack itself, folders of mods, addons, tools, notes, etc. I use Gameyfin to sort through my collection but once I decide what to play I go to the smb folder.
