Loss of internet during search locks system?

Several times I have experienced the issue of losing my VPN/internet connection while MetaZ is searching for title matches, resulting in the complete lock up of my system, forcing a power-off reset. It definitely seems that the two issues are connected. Not sure if this is unique to me or if others have experienced the same.

Happened again this morning, this time without a VPN involved. Lost the WiFi/internet connection while MetaZ was searching for a title match, beach balled the system, eventually forced to power cycle the system.
