Manage admins (users)

Open greyblake opened this issue 10 years ago • 9 comments

Currently a user (human who has an access to admin panel) can be created only running rake task. It would be good to have an ability to manage users:

  • Create new ones (with all necessary fields)
  • Remove

User also must be able to update his/her password and name.

@diegosouza If you want and have enough time you can pick this task up!:)

I've been thinking about the feature of removing users... Wouldn't be needed some kind of role or hierarchy to delete someone?

I guess no. All users are supposed to be equal.

So, by now, should I consider the users are trustable among them and everyone is able to delete someone's user? Is that ok for you?

@diegosouza hi) Let's discuss this. Would it be OK to have 2 types of users:

  • admin users - have permissions to manage users (including other admin users) and manage posts
  • regular users - have permissions only to manage posts.

What do you think?

I think it can be good for most installations. The regular user, I'd call him "publisher", "writer" or something like this.

I guess admin and editor?)

@diegosouza btw, very personal question: do you use blogo for any of your projects?)

I think admin and editor would be good. I'm not using Blogo. Nowadays I only use StackEdit to create/manage some personal documents. I love markdown
