Bondtech LGX X-carriage compatibility [MK3S + BEAR 2.1 + LGX+ Mosquito Magnum]

Open gavan1 opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Hi @gregsaun I have a quick X carriage question, I'de like to practice caution and confirm compatibility. The terminology Bondtech Prusa Upgrade extruder leaves too much ambiguity and room for confusion, but I will assume Bondtech's LGX extruder is considered a Bondtech Prusa Upgrade extruder.

Note that the Bondtech Prusa Upgrade extruder needs a custom firmware, independently of the X axis used.

1. @BondtechAB could you elaborate on the firmware needed?

I am installing the following:

  1. Bondtech LGX extruder
  2. Mosquito Magnum Hotend
  3. Bondtech LGX carriage for Mk3S

https://github.com/gregsaun/bear_extruder_and_x_axis/blob/master/optional_parts/bondtech_x_carriage/printed_parts/bear_bondtech_mosquito_mk3s.zip

The above linked zip file includes.

  • bondtech_mosquito_x_carriage_mk3s.stl
  • x_carriage_back.stl

2. Am I able to to use 3. Bondtech LGX carriage for MK3S with the stl files (x_end_motor + idler)? Or are those X ends (within that zip file) exclusively limited to the x carriage files in that zip ?

Ultimately I want to use the Brear X ends + Bondtech's LGX X-carriage.

@gerdj is your LGX Mosquito printhead V1.0 needed instead of Bondtech's LGX X-carriage?

Thank you and can't wait to build the frame!

I have confirmed with Bondtech that this is the correct firmware.

https://www.bondtech.se/downloads/firmware/prusa/FW3100-Build4993-Bondtech-MK3S-16-EINSy10a-LGX-Mosquito.zip

Despite the MK3S board being the Einsy RAMBo (MK3S/+) and not an EINSy10a. I have pointed this issue towards Bondtech and unfortunately they have refused to offer support on the X-carriage that they have sold and this frame upgrade.

@gregsaun hopefully you can comment on Bondtech LGX X-carriage compatibility.

Hi @gavan1, unfortunately my carriage is made for the previous Bondtech extruder and not for the LGX. I am not planning to support the LGX for now but I am working on a geared extruder.
