@outpaddling, it is probably worth focusing on adding relevant support in QIIME 2, rather than QIIME 1. We're ramping up the available functionality in QIIME 2, and plan to stop...

@outpaddling, QIIME 2 is plugin-based, so it can support anything that someone writes a plugin for. Unlike QIIME 1, we don't need to integrate or approve these types of methods...
