[Feature Request] Disable converter recipies by default

Open Sarius2009 opened this issue 1 year ago • 8 comments

With the new converter recipies, a lot of thing can be converted, instead of mined directly, leading the tool to prefer this, likely as it minimizes the number of ores needed. Usually, this is not what I want to do so, so I think they should be seperated into their own tab (like alt recipies) and be turned off by default.

you can disable the converter in the "machines" menu. Unfortunately there's no tag or something like that in the dataset that would define what a converter recipe is, so I'd have to hardcode that, which I don't really want to do. The new Tools I'm working on will most likely have this solved in some way.

Understandable, and nice to hear that some solution is on the way. On a similar note: it would be nice to be able to set ores as input items, to seperate mined and converted resources, and to have a better overview.

would this be @greeny by deprioritising SAM ore as an input?

@Sarius2009 the workaround i have been using is to just toggle SAM ore off as an input

Easiest way I've found to find them all for disabling is using the parenthesis ( in the search bar, there's only a few recipes that aren't SAM ones that have that symbol. Only really necessary for chains that require SAM, disabling it is usually better.

could you maybe make the Converter de-selected by default?

the problem with that is that people will get confused why their advanced production lines don't work. And it's easier to look for a thing and disable that thing, than to figure out why is something not working (without knowing that it's disabled by default)

That's fair - what about a setting that can be toggled off so that new tabs created respect the setting? my use case is that every new tab i make i have to remember to deactivate it - its not a huge deal of course, just a qol thing for less than top tier recipes

Is the solution a way to make that choice more upfront instead of deeper in the settings?
