Make meta notes present throughout Data Docs

Open jhanlonhg opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Due to some expectations being confusing without context, it is great that you can add notes via meta that describe its context. However, I am finding that the fact that these meta notes are not present in the suite results to be annoying. As someone who is using Data Docs to debug a test failure, it would be helpful if my meta notes on an expectation were present from the run result itself, in addition to its current location.

Describe the solution you'd like A bubble, similar to how it appears in the Expectation Docs, to appear next to test results.

Describe alternatives you've considered Clicking through to the expectation doc is possible, but is less than intuitive for new users, or developers who want to debug test failures without G_E domain knowledge.

Hi @jhanlonhg - thanks for raising this! Just to better understand, are you looking for the meta notes to be displayed within Data Docs on pages containing Validation Results, or are you saying that the meta notes are not contained within the ValidationResult .json objects themselves?

@talagluck I was looking for meta notes to be present in the Data Docs on pages containing Validation Results. The idea being that developers without domain knowledge of Great Expectations will be able to click the little meta bubble on their test result, without having to click through to the Expectation Suite page.

Feature request has been noted and Product will make a decision whether this is something we want to implement.
