Create initial token registry file

Open yanivtal opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

Find the top 100-200 ERC20 tokens. Include flags for each token.

Questions:

  • What should the criteria be for including a token?
  • Compare to Blockscout

A bunch of criteria can be used to select which tokens should be included in the token registry: market capitalization, trade volume, number of transfers/operations, price, total holders, among others.

After research what criteria are used in a few public token list website (like Etherscan, Ethplorer), CoinMarketCap, Bloxy, eidoo or Coinnounce) it seems that market capitalization is most commonly used criteria (and default ordering) for most of them.

Market cap measures what a token is worth on the market, as well as the market's perception of its future prospects. That's why it's a good idea to use it to build the initial list of tokens that are going to be supported.
