Cannot repeatedly open faust2alsa compiled programs on ubuntu

I am running Ubuntu 20.04 on a virtual box VM. I can successfully compile .dsp files using faust2alsa, but if I open one (for example, guitarMIDI), close it, and try to open it again, often I am unable to do so; double clicking the program or right-clicking and pressing run do not do anything. I have to reboot the VM to open the programs again. This issue appears to happen randomly.
