Variable Filters while using MQTT Datasource

While using MQTT as a data source, I want to filter the dashboard panels using variable filters can this feature be added in the Plugin.?

For example while using druid data source, we add "$" to filter panel data based on our variable filter, Can this same feature be added in our MQTT Plugin .? this well help to show real time data with filters.
