Allow us to rename feeds

Open LivInTheLookingGlass opened this issue 6 years ago • 6 comments

There's a whole bunch on there that are just "Unnamed Podcast from ______"

I would like to be able to rename feeds like these so that they have the correct names. This would go well with the issue to allow merging of feeds.

Examples:

This issue is maybe the more important one on here, honestly.

If the community could help corect and add new stuff it would be great, maybe even adding more information on each podcast in the future.

I synchronized my podcasts from Antennaepod on my phone, and they all show up as "unknown":

  •   Unknown Podcast from feeds.feedburner.com
  •   Unknown Podcast from feeds.wnyc.org
  •   Unknown Podcast from bedtime.fm
  •   Unknown Podcast from kufm.drupal.publicbroadcasting.net
  •   Unknown Podcast from bedtime.fm
  •   Unknown Podcast from www.finncaspian.com
  •   Unknown Podcast from podcasts.vpr.net
  •   Unknown Podcast from feeds.megaphone.fm

If I look up the feed URL, they're listed accurately in gpodder's director, eg Unknown Podcast from feeds.wnyc.org is indeed https://gpodder.net/podcast/pickle but somehow the feed title isn't carrying over to my subscription list.

I have found that copying the feed URL for "unknown feed from ..." feeds into the search tab and search for them causes the podcast feed to be parsed and the name/description details to be populated.

I have successfully used this technique to remove all "unknown" podcasts from my gpodder.net web interface!

Same here as with @amandabee, imported podcasts from AntennaePod and got them as "Unknown podcast".

Can confirm that solution by @joshproehl works.

I also have an "Unnamed Podcast" issue, but besides that I think it could be interesting to have a "local name" on my subscription that would necessarily propagate to everyone.

#49, #89, #109, #330, #439 and #485 all seem to be duplicates (or at least closely related).
