Sony A7M3 - is not discovered with default settings - missing device id 054c:0c01 in hwdb?
Describe the bug
I did look through the issues and https://github.com/gphoto/libgphoto2/issues/343 seems to indicate that my camera should be supported but I can't do anything at all. I suspect it's me doing something wrong but I can't figure it out by myself.
I tried importing images using Digikam 7.6.0 but it failed. Then I tried just listing directories by using gphoto2 --list-folders
Name the camera Camera name as shown by gphoto2 --auto-detect or USB IDs

To Reproduce
- Install Ubuntu 20.04 (focal)
- Install
gphoto2
- Plug in Sony A7M3
-
env LC_ALL=C gphoto2 --debug-logfile=logfile.log --debug --list-folders
- See logfile.log
I see that Ubuntu ships /usr/lib/udev/hwdb.d/20-libgphoto2-6.hwdb
which has the following entries
# Sony Alpha-A7 III (MTP mode)
usb:v054Cp0C03*
GPHOTO2_DRIVER=PTP
ID_GPHOTO2=1
# Sony Alpha-A7 III (PC Control)
usb:v054Cp0C34*
GPHOTO2_DRIVER=PTP
ID_GPHOTO2=1
However, none of these seem to match 054c:0c01
which my camera is using :thinking:
A-ha, I had to change USB Connection
to MTP
in the camera settings. Now I can discover it via gphoto2 --auto-detect
. BUT I still can't transfer anything because it fails with PTP I/O Error
when listing folders.
I'll open a separate issue for that, though.
