Zooming on live preview on Olympus OMD cameras.

I am working at a focus stacking program for my camera (E-M5 Mk 2). For focus stacking it's important to see very precisely where the focus is, since the DoF can be only a few microns. So I would like to be able to zoom in on the preview (something that is available from the camera by pressing a button). However, the camera is not responding to most button presses when connected to the computer.

I was wondering if there is any way to zoom in on the preview (essentially doing a sensor crop) from gphoto2. Unfortunately there is little documentation for my camera, the 'exotic' configuration things are missing, so I had to do quite a bit of trial and error to find useful features in the unnamed config variables. If someone found the option to zoom in on the live preview, I'd appreciate a response.
