Canon EOS 500D unable to Focus in liveview

Describe the bug

In Liveview of the EOS500D normale you must use the * Button to Focus. is ist possible to use this Focus via gphoto? Because on normal conditions iam not able to focus. I will Take a Picture directly out of the Liveview, which ist possible and working, but iam not able to focus the Picture before.
