Guidance:

=============

Numbering The purpose of numbering is to help people find a specific table or illustration.

If there is more than one table, number each table sequentially. Put the number before the main text of the caption. The same applies to illustrations.

You don't need to number tables or illustrations in a brochure, infographic or a simple, standalone webpage with only a few illustrations.

Many publications refer to all illustrations as figures. Complex publications with many illustrations can use different locators such as figures, maps, and photographs.

General rules for numbering Start the numbering at the beginning of your publication. Number tables and illustrations separately (Table 1, Table 2 ... and Figure 1, Figure 2 ...). Use a colon or full stop after the number to separate it from the text of the caption. Example Table 1: Risk assessment thresholds for Green Trees National Park Table 2: Visitor numbers during March to October, 2019

Figure 1: Visitor numbers, Green Trees main walk, 2008 to 2019 Figure 2: Traffic accident rates, Green Trees Weir, 2009 to 2019
