Implementing the level of security we require into a tool like tahoe-lafs is probably impossible. Definitely a waste of time.

Blockchains are the only technology that has been proven effective for these types of applications.

Trying to get a distributed cloud to fill this need is academic research. Years of work, and you wont get any money at the end. I am more interested in making something useful right away. We should use something that already works.
