Being able to launch external versions of Minecraft

Open zKyros opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. As someone who plays on 2b2t and 9b9t I use utility clients like Impact and optifine, some of these utilities are not offered as forge mods, Which frustrates me and many others as I have to switch launchers to open one of these custom versions.

Describe the solution you'd like A simple way to add minecraft version jsons and jars, Therefore allowing custom minecraft clients to be added. Maybe allowing the user to navigate and select a custom .json file to fetch dependencies and to install the version would be a good solution.

Describe alternatives you've considered Having hand selected clients added to the launcher would be nice, but not a full substitute. Currently my alternative is using the OG launcher

Additional context An example is Impact, An utility client for anarchy servers. In the OG launcher it installs under the versions list like so. Screenshot_36

Thank you.

Not soon, we are already working on a big refactor

Hey OP here, Going by the fact this is a word to word copy of my original issue, I was wondering if the refactor would contain anyway of implementing the custom json versioning files? Is there a PR with this feature implemented or should we just wait?

If I made a PR with this feature implemented would it be considered for the main branch? Just a couple questions is all.

The rewrite will most likely contain this feature. There isn't currently a PR adding this feature. If you did make a PR to the main branch, it would be reviewed fairly as all PRs are.
