So is there nothing after a restart or is it still opened after it failed to upgrade?

It still opens, but not version that i want
Just adding weight to this, ive been having this same issue for a while now. When updating from 1.18-pre8 to 1.18-rc3 i currently have the same issue. No errors within the console and nothing to indicate WHY this failed. Had the same issue when updating other versions too. Only solution was to install another instance with the correct version and transfer settings/game file which isnt really a solution.
Hi, I'm having this same issue with Arch Linux and 1.1.16-beta.3
This is still an issue with Vanilla instances in 2022. Anyone have a fix anywhere that doesn't require creating one from scratch?
I can confirm this is still an issue. Tried updating DW20 1.18 pack from 1.4.1 to 1.5.1 and every launch just launches 1.4.1 even though in GDLauncher it shows it as 1.5.1.
did you get this error with any specific modloader or "version"? I just tried and I changed version of a couple of instances vanilla / forge and I even managed to run them with the correct version

I am not sure what you mean. I was just using the latest version of GDLauncher and I downloaded the pack from the FTB list in GDLauncher. I have been running version 1.4.1 of the DW20 1.18 pack for a while now and just tried to change the version of the pack through "manage" to the latest 1.5.1 version. It says it is running 1.5.1 when I go to manage the pack, but when it launches, it is still 1.4.1. I ended up having to setup 1.5.1 as a new install of the pack and copy and replace the files over to my 1.4.1 pack.
I noticed when I tried to update the pack that it will download the forge files and patch forge, but it never seems to download any of the mods.
Ah well. It may be that FTB shut down their APIs. Can you show the Console when upgrading?
I dont know if there is a better way to save this as it looks like it is hard to read. I was seeing a lot of 403s to POST https://addons-ecs.forgesvc.net/api/v2/fingerprint
Ok which version of GDL are you. You are reviving an 403 Forbidden and that may mean you don't have the right version
I am "up to date" at 1.1.18
Latest version is 1.1.25. Please download it from https://gdevs.io
I have been on the latest version, 1.1.25, since release. i was just updating this same pack, and it wouldn't show any errors but on launch it showed the old version still. I decided to try installing a new instance with the new version, and that worked without issue. Opened it up and there sits the newest version of Direwolf20 1.18. Not sure what might cause this.
I did notice after updating, it thought it was on 1.5.1 in gdlauncher. I tried updating twice, and then tried to repair the pack twice. Neither thing changed anything, only installing a new instance did.
I was also updating from 1.4.1 to 1.5.1.
Ok, so I tested another FTB pack, this time Stoneblock 2. I installed an old version of it (1.21.0), then tried updating to the latest version (1.22.0 with a minor version in between that I skipped) and then launching it, and confirmed it did not update properly, so it doesn't seem to be specific to this pack.
