why the mp3 conversion?

the 05_clean_files.py script converts from wav to mp3, and then back to wav again. what's the purpose of this?

i did not. my best guess is that it is a roundabout way to apply a low-pass filter 🤷

I was thinking the same. Might skip the conversion and see if it makes a difference!
