Impossible to add new slideshow strategies in derived repos

This is because the registration for strategies is (understandably) static and contained in chicago-brick. Figure out a better way to add new strategies to slideshow so that modules that want to use, say, a specific DisplayStrategy can implement a custom LoadStrategy.
