Robust Edit support

What would you like to be added?

Would like editing files in gemini cli to be fully robust with no surprises resulting in edits failing in ways users do not understand. Users must be clear what edits they are accepting and those edits should happen predictably with minimal friction.

Why is this needed?

Editing files is the most fundamental task users perform with Gemini CLI. Changes to make it robust are foundational.
