Add one to the padding in settings dialog to avoid flicker.

Open jacob314 opened this issue 3 weeks ago • 2 comments

Summary

When the input prompt was added to the settings dialog the height is sometimes 1 line higher than the terminal height causing classic ink flicker issues.

To verify: scroll the settings dialog and verify that the settings dialog doesn't flicker badly.

Summary of Changes

Hello @jacob314, I'm Gemini Code Assist[^1]! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request resolves a minor but noticeable UI flicker within the settings dialog. The issue arose because the dialog's overall height, following the recent addition of an input prompt, was slightly larger than the terminal's available space. By incrementing a padding constant, the dialog is now correctly constrained, ensuring a smooth and stable user experience without visual artifacts during scrolling.

Highlights

  • UI Stability: Increased the DIALOG_PADDING constant from 4 to 5 in the SettingsDialog component.
  • Flicker Resolution: This adjustment addresses a flicker issue that occurred when the settings dialog's height slightly exceeded the terminal height after an input prompt was added.
