3.5 RPi Display on Zero W 1.1 just backlight

Open Yimro opened this issue 1 year ago • 9 comments

Hi. I am struggling with my newly bought 3.5 RPi Touch Display (XPT2046 Touch Controller) on my Raspberry Pi Zero W 1.1. I have installed the LCD-show driver from this repository, following the instructions in README. There are no errors and the Zero boots normally, but the display turns white and after that dark but with backlight on. I am using SSH for controlling my Zero, there is no HDMI display connected. I have read through the issues here but could not solve my problem yet. What am I doing wrong? I am using a Raspberry Pi Zero W Rev 1.1 and Raspbian 11.

Confirmed! 👍 Changing to FB1 solved the issue! Thanks so much for the hint @lschloetterer 💯

@lschloetterer any clue how to make this work with the Open GL (Full KMS) drivers (enabled in raspi-config > Advanced Settings > GL Driver)? Seems if I enable Full KMS the 99-fbturbo.conf driver is no longer loaded / needed and I don't know how to switch to FB1... I need the full OpenGL drivers to load Midori, which will not work on the legacy drivers for some reason. Any idea? Appreciate any hint.

No idea, honestly. Maybe try the Waveshare repo https://github.com/waveshare/LCD-show

Couldn't make it work with "bookworm", the easy solution is using the "bullseye".
