opening lf on an MTP directory makes it freeze

I'm not sure if this is an issue with MTP or with lf, but when I connect my phone to my computer with MTP and go into the directory with lf it freezes it completely, and i'm unable to use commands such as ls. I think might not be a problem with lf though, as doing ls -R in the directory freezes it completely as well.
